Headspace | Awareness Training
Day 2 | What are you grateful for?
I’m grateful to have access to the app Headspace to help with my meditation practice. I’ve been using it for around 3 years now and it has done a lot of good in my life.
Meditation is a slow process, it isn’t something you start today and have mastered by the end of the week. It takes time to develop habits and strengthen awareness but over time you’ll develop some really powerful tools.
It has helped me a lot with focus, and also with letting go of thoughts. I used to cling to the thoughts I was having and then I would take the shape of my emotions. I’m not perfect, far from it, but I’m falling into this trap less and less. I view Headspace as one of my teachers, a coach, and it has helped me learn a lot about the mind and how I relate to it.
I appreciate the patience and focus I’ve managed to acquire from developing a “sitting meditation” practice. It isn’t a weird spiritual practice, although it can be. Some of my mediations have a spiritual essence to them, but for me the main reason I committed to using the app was because I struggled with focusing and as mentioned, I used to be extremely sensitive and would take a lot of things personally. Meditation has helped with an unthinkable number of things.
Ultimately, mediation is just another way of saying awareness. There are many ways of practicing it. Do you have a meditation practice you like to do?
